Jacqueline says, "Soccer Rocks!"

Howdy Do,

I was perusing the internet today and came across www.objectivo.com today. It's a pretty cool soccer exclusive website but my favorite part had to be the store. You should definitely check out the world cup tees and my favorite, the "California Flag soccer tee!"

On the home front, we entertained our Landlord and his family today. Their daughter Jacqueline baked us cookies and drew us an awesome picture! Thanks Jacqueline, soccer does rock and so do you!

Weekend update!

ooooh it's been a while since my last entry. Let's see, what do I need to fill you in on?

Last weekend we traveled to St. Louis to take on the Athletica. We had a little "incident" at training when Daphne Koster and Jessica Landstrom ran into each other and were both taken to the hospital for stitches. Unfortunately for us Daphne was unable to play in the game, but being Sky Blue FC, we resiliently pulled it together! Jessica Landstrom was fit to play and nearly scored in the second half but thank goodness for Laura Kalmari! She scored twice for us in the span of 5-8 minutes but sadly we conceded late in the game and ended up drawing with STL 2-2.

Today was an awesome day for soccer. Sure Inter Milan defeated Bayern Munich in the Champion's League final today but the big surprise was that it was shown on FOX! Can you believe it? Nice one America! Also, as you may or may not know the WPS had a league wide bye week this weekend because of the US international friendly against Germany. So my day was spent watching sporting events and thinking about kitten adoption, so Kiersten Dallstream and I decided to go to Petsmart on a whim. Lucky us!

Until next time,

Sky Blue FC custom tees

Ok people I'm asking for YOUR opinions. Hey! Don't look away! Help me out here.

I've illustrated the entire Sky Blue FC team and I'd really like to make a tee shirt, it'd be semi expensive to print due to the amount of colors but if demand is high enough it might just happen. I'm looking for a number. A number of people that would buy or seriously contemplate buying this tee shirt. Please feel free to leave comments in regard to what you feel would make this/these tees more desirable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lists, Random thoughts, and a quote of the day

Well hello!

Just thought I'd put together a quick scribble and a Monday recap for ya, so here it goes. Actually maybe I'll tweak the format for a change, how about bullet points, or a list? Lists are good.

• Saturday
- Sky Blue FC lost to FC Gold Pride 0 - 1. Boo!
+ saved a PK! Yay!
+ Proved we can defend 1 v 1 and 2 v 1. Yay!

• Sunday
+ Regeneration training session
- Lost my sunglasses. BOO!

• Monday
+ Day off
+ Found my sunglasses! Yay!
+ Drove to Philadelphia
- A rather large, and impatient woman in a car honked and yelled "Damn, take all day!" at me while I was walking in a cross walk and clearly had the right of way.
+ Did a live phone interview with Temryss Lane and Nick Webster of Fox Soccer Channel's "Fox Football Fone in" (more info to come soon) So cool!
+ Spontaneous photo shoot outside the first bank of the United States.
+ South Street stroll.
+ Realized that my friends are awesome. ( I think...)

Quote of the day: " Trenton makes, the world Takes"

So over all, today was a swell day. I hope your Monday was as good as mine.

Ndamukong Suh Sky Blue FC shout out!

Saturday, May 1, 2010

After a disappointing loss to FC Gold Pride three weekends ago we, at Sky Blue FC, knew we had a lot to work on in the week to come. As a reward for all our hard work that week Heather O’Reilly and I decided to treat ourselves to two brand new guitars and hopefully some lessons. Eager to improve, I headed out to NYC to meet up with HAO for what we like to call a “jam session,” which is actually way less cool then it sounds because I am actually awful at playing the guitar – hence, lessons. Speaking of which, I think HAO and I would gladly trade training/skill sessions for guitar lessons, just throwing it out there into cyberspace because you just never know, do you? Right, so after plucking our six strings for a few hours we decided to get some food at a sweaty, cramped, delicious Mexican restaurant called Tortilla Flats just round the corner from HAO’s and boy it was packed! We ended up eating outside because the inside of the restaurant was literally the size of a small prop plane but that didn’t keep us from enjoying ourselves, the hoards of drunk people piling in and out of surrounding restaurants, cabs and weird Partridge Family buses was especially entertaining.

Last Saturday finally arrived fashionably late and before we knew it we were headed to Chicago via Detroit. Sounds pretty boring right? Well, it was, except for one awesome incident at gate C17. We had heard through the grapevine that Ndamukong Suh, Detroit’s number one draft pick and the NFL’s #2 overall was in the terminal. Yael Averbuch and I built up the courage to pay him a visit and he ended up actually being really nice, and interested in who we were and what we did. How cool is that?! Anyway, we asked him if he would mind giving us a little shout out and he did. (Ndamukong, thanks for that we really appreciate it. Congratulations and good luck.) Anyway, we boarded our flight to Chicagoland, landed, went to training, then dinner, followed by the customary team meetings, then bed. Ugh.

The following day was game day and it ended up being a little more eventful then usual. We woke up, went down to breakfast and noticed one of our teammates Yael Averbuch wasn’t there. She had become rather violently ill late the night before and was taken to the hospital for fluids. Unfortunately she was confined to her bed for the rest of the night and was forced to watch our game via matchtracker, which I’m sure only made her nausea worse. While Ya Ya was being seen to, the rest of the team had a pre-game meal to eat, but when some of the girls came downstairs they had red, swollen, glassy eyes. We asked what happened and through their giggly sniffles they replied, “we were watching Marley and Me…”

About an hour after pre-game, we left for Toyota park and kicked off at 5pm against the Red Stars. It was absolutely freezing and blowing a gale but we started off strong regardless of the conditions. Unfortunately, disaster struck after about twenty minutes or so when Carli Lloyd broke her fibula. At the half, the conditions had significantly worsened. No longer did we have the luxury of with the wind at our backs but now we were faced up against a massive head wind and torrential, needle like rain for 20 minutes. It was a battle, but fortunately for us luck was on our side that night and we came away with a win.

Don’t forget to catch us today, Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 6pm EST at Yurcak field on the campus of Rutgers University as we, Sky Blue FC, take on Marta and FC Gold Pride. If you can’t make it out the game it will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel but I for one would definitely love to see you all in person!

Hey. Smile. There it is!

Welcome Sky Blue FC fans!

Well hello Sky Blue FC followers, how are you? I'm doing great, just in case you were wondering...First I'd like to express how happy and excited I am to be back here in New Jersey and playing for Sky Blue FC again. Three games in and already the season has been filled with "oohs and aaahs" and other various monosyllabic grunts and noises. Second, I suppose this blog will be a little introduction to what "The Bard, The Blog" actually entails. Long story short, I'll be documenting my experiences on and off the pitch this season which really encompasses anything and everything. So I hope you enjoy it and if you don't well, that's your problem...
